The Delta Nus celebrates first anniversary
Hi Nusies,
Remember us?
I know it’s been awhile and we’ve been absolutely rubbish at keeping up our site and social media, but what can we say…
A pandemic derailed us.
When we conceived this idea a year ago, on our way to ElsieFest, we envisioned where we would be today. We’d have a decent following, a steady stream of interviews with all sorts of theatre folk and we’d be fully immersed in our passion for the stage, while also indulging our professional hobbies (writing for Roxi and art for Perle).
We thought we’d be celebrating with fanfare, perhaps even setting up a small march store. Instead, we fizzled.
It’s not that our passion for theatre has fizzled. Not even a little. We have tried to catch as much as we can online. And we’re so excited by how much content these wonderful artists are creating from the safety of their homes. But admittedly, it’s not the same. It’s just too easy (especially for us) to get distracted when we don’t need to physically be somewhere.
So we’ve dropped the ball. The string of exciting interviews we had lined up has frayed and the one interview we’ve done in quarantine (back in April no less) remains unwritten on my laptop. I think a lot of what was said then is no longer relevant, although I’m sure there’s quite a bit that is, if I ever get around to writing again. Who knows, maybe I can set up a follow-up with the artist?
So, we’re not even close to where we thought we would be in a year. A slow start and then a swift rise and then nothing. But, in a way, it’s still only the beginning. And we, like live theatre, will be back.
And hopefully you’ll be back with us.
So happy anniversary to the Delta Nus.
Here’s to many more…
Sincerely,
Us
